In childhood we were told
to safely view eclipses
with pieces of cardboard
I pierced through the cardboard,
To allow the eclipse of your love
To show through me
Onto flimsy paper.
They told me to look straight on
Could cause blindness-
But I'm not sure that a single sight of you
Would not suffice for the rest of my life.
